If you could be any Jacqueline Wilson character who would you be?
I’ve been to this WH Smith’s in Leicester before – the events are always organised immaculately by Sharon and her brilliant team. I met Sharon’s daughter Zoe, this time too! All the children were very sweet. I was especially touched by Lucy and Beth who run a JW fan club at their school.
This was a gorgeous event - and it was great to catch up with Gary Deane at Waterstone’s. The Milton Keynes staff organised everything splendidly. I met Charis, who works there and who says The Illustrated Mum inspired her to get her first tattoo. There were lovely children at the event. Christine arrived at 6.30 am(!) with her lovely parents. Lucy gave me all sorts of yummy homemade food and drink and told me she was going to have a JW sleepover with her friends Laura and Hannah.
This was a gold star event splendidly organised by my dear friend Ros Bartlett. I did a question and answer session in the afternoon and a talk in the evening. All the children were lovely, even though they had to wait for ages in the signing queue. I was particularly impressed by the pupils of the New Academy, Wolverhampton, brought on a coach by the very valiant Judy James.
I love going to Jarrolds as they have a particularly good book department. I met some very special children at the book signing. Lily and Iza came dressed up as Ruby and Garnet from Double Act and looked identical. I was given imaginative modelling clay presents by Rosamund and Emily and Patrick. I also met four delightful bookwork girls, Emily, Lottie, Isla and Hannah who love making up plays about my favourite book, Ballet Shoes.
York is such a lovely place to visit. Naomi (my very special publicist) took me to Betty’s tearooms where I had an enormous delicious meal (swiss rosti, salad and passion fruit cheesecake – yum yum!) It was exciting doing an event in the Yorkshire Museum. I was so touched that Annabel and Cristina had come all the way from Switzerland to see me, and Karenza’s lovely Dad had brought her down from Scotland for the talk. Josie gave me a very special JW throne, complete with ring holder and a dangling toy for Jacob, my cat, to play with.
It was fun to do an event in this lovely cinema – and it was a great one too, so we finished the tour on a high. I’ve had such a good time! Thank you Naomi, Bob and Trish for looking after me so splendidly – and thank you, each and every one of you that I’ve met over the past fortnight. I have the best fans ever!
