If you could be any Jacqueline Wilson character who would you be?
I don't know how I'm going to get any work done this month- I'm rushing around all over the place, talking about my books instead of writing them! I'm planning to wake up half an hour earlier each day so I can scribble two or three quick pages of my new Hetty Feather book. Meanwhile I'm giving MANY talks on the second book about her, Sapphire Battersea. I went to the Bath Festival on Saturday 1st October and gave a talk to a large and lovely crowd- over 1,400 people! You'll be able to see on the website all the other places I'm going to, finishing off at the Foundling Museum in London. I'm also going to be up at the Seven Stories in Newcastle to open the very special Jacqueline Wilson exhibition there. I can't wait to see the mock up of my childhood bedroom! It will seem so strange seeing all my old dolls and toys arranged there, and my notebooks and long-ago stories. I hope you'll write in and let me know what you think of the exhibition! There's also a Jacqueline Wilson festival at the University of Central Lancashire. I'll be there for the special family events- but I won't be around the day all the academics discuss my work. I wonder what they'll say about me! I teach creative writing once a month at Roehampton University. I'm looking forward to meeting this year's students. I always get them to write several paragraphs during the sessions and then we read them aloud. Their contributions are often brilliant, much better than mine! I try to show them writing should be fun, even if you have to work very hard at it. Good luck writing all your stories. I know there are many would-be authors out there!
