If you could be any Jacqueline Wilson character who would you be?
I’m off to Hay-On-Wye at the beginning of June to give a big talk at the Literary Festival – and I hope to catch up with friends and visit a few of the second-hand bookshops too. I’m only staying two days – I wish it was longer, so I could go for walks along the river Wye and go up into the Black Mountains. The views are breathtaking and there are wild ponies up in the hills. The foals are particularly lovely, with wild manes and tails.
Then I’m going to Bath for a couple of days to record my new book The Longest Whale Song. I love these audio sessions. I always work with the same producer, David and he’s so gentle and friendly that I can relax and read for hours. I hope to be able to find a little bit of time to look round Bath too. It’s my birth city, but I don’t really know it all that well.
I only have a little while at home before I’m off to America on an exciting train trip down the West Coast of America. This is a holiday, but I’ll take my current book with me, and diligently work on it for an hour or so each day. I’m writing it in a big green notebook with blue pages. I’m halfway through the story now. I’m supposed to have finished it by the end of August. I think I’ll have to get a move on!
Love from Jacqueline Wilson
