July 2010

I shall be making my special school visit in the middle of July to the brilliant competition winners! I wish I could do more school visits nowadays. I used to love doing them so much - but I’m not supposed to do too many talks now because I get very tired. Still, I should be feeling very refreshed by then because I’ll have had my train trip down the west coast of America. I’m only taking a small suitcase with me – containing a few clothes and at least four big fat paperbacks. I shall probably but lots more books while I’m out in the States too.

It will be wrench leaving my cat Jacob, but he will have plenty of company. Two very kind friends are coming to stay in my house and they will look after my spoilt boy. I’ve written them two pages of his likes and dislikes and his daily routine! At the moment he’s got a little black cat friend who comes to play. Jacob’s quite happy about this, but he understandably gets upset when the black cat helps himself to Jacob’s breakfast or curls up on his special blanket. Perhaps I’m going to have to write a little cat book one day!

You’ll all be breaking up from school soon. I do hope you have a fantastic summer break. I expect all of you in Year Six will be feeling a bit sad about leaving school. I hope you have a great leavers party!
