If you could be any Jacqueline Wilson character who would you be?
I had a wonderful time in Japan and was treated like Royalty throughout. I made so many new friends and even had a brilliant day sight-seeing in Tokyo – but most of the time I was giving talks and answering questions and signing books. And now I’m doing exactly that all over England. It’s great fun but it’s difficult to fit in writing time too. I’ve started writing the sequel to Hetty Feather and I’m already on chapter four – but now I’ve had to abandon Hetty for a few days. She’s still inside my head though and I can’t wait to get a few days at home to continue her story.
It’s also very hard leaving my cat Jacob but he truly doesn’t seem to miss me. When I come back I want to scoop him up in my arms and give him big strokes and kisses, but he just blinks his beautiful eyes at me and swaggers off, clearly not wanting any fussing. He does still jump up on my bed for a cuddle in the mornings though, and that’s lovely.
I’ve had quite a few emails this month from girls worrying about school exams. I do so understand, but try not to let it get you down. Exams are important, but as long as you try hard and do your homework then you should be fine. There are lots of things that matter more in life, I promise you.
I hope to meet LOTS of you on this special book tour. I have been reading little extracts of The Longest Whale Song and I realise it is a very sad book – but don’t worry, I promise it has a happy ending.
Love from Jacqueline Wilson
