If you could be any Jacqueline Wilson character who would you be?
I had such a busy time in October doing so many talks and signing for The Longest Whale Song that I hoped to have a bit of a rest in November. Ha! I’ve just looked at my diary and I’ve got something on nearly every day. But I’m still writing a few pages of the Hetty Feather sequel every morning, and enjoying the whole experience tremendously. I really do think Hetty is my all-time favourite out of all my characters. One of the many things I’m going to be doing is taking part in a television programme about children in care, chatting to Dani Harmer. It will be great to catch up with Dani. The last time I saw her she was wearing the most amazing emerald green sequin boots. Guess what I’m going to do on Thursday 25 November – I’m going to switch on the Christmas lights in Teddington! It should be great fun, and I hope to have lots of mulled wine and mince pies.
I shall have to start thinking about my own Christmas lights at home. I didn’t have a Christmas tree last year, because I’d only just got little Jacob from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and he was inclined to scamper up curtains and leap crazily around the room. I was sure he’d jump up a Christmas tree and maybe tip it over and hurt himself. But now he’s much more sensible and sedate so I think I shall be making a trip to a garden centre at the beginning of December and selecting a special tree. I’ve got a huge box at the back of my wardrobe full of glass decorations, but I shall probably buy a few more for this year. Maybe I’ll find a little glass cat?
Love from Jacqueline Wilson
