January 2011

Welcome to a brand new year!

I hope you all had a simply wonderful Christmas. Thank you so much for all your hundreds of emails wishing me a happy birthday and a merry Christmas – I was so touched. I had some simply fantastic presents: an old Victorian copy of David Copperfield, two black and white china spaniels with very sweet expressions (I’ve called them Lily and Violet) and a new ring! It’s a beautiful huge silver ring from my favourite jewellery shop Curious and Curiouser in Brighton. It’s a special original Great Frog design, with a sparkly lemon quartz stone. Look out for it if you meet up with me in February when I’m on tour!

I hope Santa brought all of you lots of presents too. I met a very jolly Santa when I went to Kingston Hospital on a December Saturday. He had a magical snowy cave specially made for him. I met lots of very special children when I was there. I liked Max, who rode a rocking horse and told me he liked my books – and it was particularly interesting meeting an older boy, Jack, who has written some brilliant lyrics about his experiences suffering from Brittle Bone Disease.

I’m going to have to stay at home and WORK HARD in January, writing my second story about Hetty Feather. She’s fourteen now, and she really doesn’t enjoy being a servant! All sorts of extraordinary things are about to happen to her.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Love from Jacqueline Wilson
