If you could be any Jacqueline Wilson character who would you be?
I am sooo busy at the moment, writing the last couple of chapters of my ‘Hetty Feather’ sequel, and then typing it all out, changing bits and pieces as I go. I think I’m calling the book ‘Sapphire Battersea’ – Hetty herself would certainly approve of that title!
I’d like to stay immersed in the Victorian world for the next few weeks – but my brand new book ‘Lily Alone’ is published on 3 February, so I’m going to be rushing all over the country talking about it and doing lots of book-signings. I’ve already talked about ‘Lily’ briefly, when I did a Scottish Book Trust Meet-the-Author talk in Glasgow, which was magically beamed out live to thirty three thousand schoolchildren! It was very weird thinking about it beforehand, but thank goodness everything went well. It helped having real children in front of me! I especially enjoyed meeting Rebecca who wore amazing red books and told me all about the story she’d written.
I wish there was time to talk to every single one of you, and to answer all your emails. I love getting them and finding out exactly what you think. It’s astonishing how many come from all over the world. I feel so bad that I can’t possibly reply to everyone. I get fantastic letters too, often with special little presents. My cat Jacob likes playing with all the Jiffy bags, scratching them with his claws, even putting his head inside in very cute fashion.
Have a happy February!
