Meeting a Fan!

Hello Jacky

My name is Sophie and I met you last Thursday at Seven Stories. I hope you remember me!
I gave you a lemur keyring and my Mum gave you some wine and chocolates.
I can't beleive I actually met you, you are so smiley and friendly and I LOVE the picture you drew of you and Jacob and Jacob saying Hi to my cat Heston!

My Mum says she could have listened to you for hours because you were so interesting. We loved hearing about how you became a writer.

I am adding a picture Mum took of me and you. We have printed it and I can't wait to show my friends when I go back to school because everyone loves your books.

I have just bought Hetty Feather and I read it in 2 days, I did get a bit sad though when Hetty's doll was taken off her, My Mum said my Great Grandma lived in a workhouse in London until she was 2 years old and that is a bit like Hetty. My Mum is now reading Hetty Feather and she is 35!. I cannot wait for the next Hetty Feather because you are simply amazing to have these stories in your head.

Anyways here is our picture and I hope one day to meet you again and again because you really help me a lot.

I worry a lot and see a lady at the hospital who is helping me to worry less and sometimes your books really help me, like the Cat Mummy when my Figaro was killed on the road. Reading really helps me because it puts nice things in my head when I try to go to bed. I think of my favourite charachters like Dolphin and Beauty.

Lots and lots of love and Hugs

Sophie Gray Aged 10.

PS my Mum helped me with the spelling in this letter and the punctuation so it looked just right.

Jacqueline’s reply…

Dear Sophie

I very much enjoyed meeting you and your mum at Seven Stories. My lovely lemur keyring is curled up in a cosy corner of my handbag. I drank the wine and munched the chocolates with enormous enjoyment. I love the picture of us together – and the Seven Stories special chair looks very splendid, doesn’t it?

I’m so glad you liked reading Hetty Feather.

I worry a lot too. When I go to bed I think of all the characters in the book I’m currently writing – I often get my best ideas then.

Love from Jacqueline Wilson
