FAN MAIL REPLIES FOR FEBRUARY

A fan with a very special club!

Dear Jackie,

I am called Pollyanna Mary Jackson, but my little amount of friends call me Polly. I have a club called The Bridle Club, in which we ride imaginary horses. I am a great fan of you, and you looked sssssssssooooooooooo much like my mum when you were younger! I love horses sssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooo  much!!!!!!!!!!!! I ride every week and I thoroughly enjoy it. The Bridle Club are very happy together right now, though we're still being teased, just because we're imaginative, which helps in English, in which Mrs. D says I positively SHINE at and is my fave subject. I am now nine and a half and I have been riding since I was three and a half. The Bridle Club are being paticurlaly (that's wrong isn't it) picked on nowadays. It's really hard to get through a school day without crying for us now, so we'd be so overwhelmed to get a reply from you, but you don't have to reply.

Love,

Polly

Dear Polly,

I love the sound of your special club. I sometimes played I was riding an imaginary horse when I was walking to school in the morning. I think The Bridle Club is a splendid idea and I’m so sorry you and your friends are getting picked on. Gallop away from the meanies and have fun.

Jacqueline Wilson isn’t just for kids …

Dear Jacqueline

Hello and happy Christmassy time to begin with.
My name is Hollie. I have grown up reading your books (Well I am dyslexic, so I used to listen to the audio books and read along)
I think I was about 12 when I listened to Girls in love.. I loved it, I remember feeling like you opened up a whole new world for me.
Im 23 now and last week I was moving out of my parents house to my new home and I found all of my audio books. I re-listend to the whole 'Girls in love' series to see if they were as amazing as I remembered..OH MY, it brought back lots of old memories, I ended up feeling very nostalgic, and loved them just as much.
The book that really grabbed me was Girls Under Pressure. There is something very real about it. every time Ellie speaks about herself I wonder how other people actually see her in the world of 'girls in love'... So this is what I wanted to ask you; all girls see each other differently, we always want to be someone else.. do you think writing Girls Under Pressure from the perspective of Nadine or Magda would be a good idea? I think it would be so special if you did this. Does nadine think Ellie is fat or is she jealous that Ellie looks older and has big boobs and long curly hair? I know this is a long shot, but I think recreating this story would be amazing, and I think you would do it so well.

Anyway, Thank you for providing me with hours of entertainment over the years
Kind regards
Hollie Beth

Jacqueline’s reply

Dear Hollie,

I’m so touched you enjoyed listening to the Girls books all over again, and that you still like them. I like your idea of rewriting Girls Under Pressure from Nadine or Magda’s point of view. When I first got the idea of writing about my three girls I was going to give them a book each – but then I got so into Ellie’s character I kept on writing in her voice. I think maybe too much time has passed to start writing anything more about the girls now – but you never know!
